About this book

The atmosphere in a school can become unbearable if we allow bullying. Understanding violence at school, why it happens and what solutions there, may be the first step to creating a positive educational atmosphere.

...Do you know any classmates who are being bullied, such as the ones you sometimes see in the press? - “Everything started a few years ago when I started having a clear mind and a peculiar way of dressing. At the beginning it was just the scornful looks and laughs. Then the insults started, “pig”, “fucking nerd”. And in the past two years they started with their thumps every day on the bus on the way to school, sometimes a slap, and once I got head-butted. The threats were like ‘we’re going to kill you’, ‘we’re going to yank that piercing right out’, ‘your teeth are going to fly’. Everything that happened (for example something broken or graffiti) was always my fault. My friends and I were always ‘scum’. I was frightened. I was scared of going to school many times and even stepping outside. I felt helpless seeing that I could not do anything to defend myself. If I responded to one, I know that he would come with the others after that. The last thing that happened to me was a sudden lashing out three weeks ago, now I am hurt and I still have some time to recover”. The parents of this boy issued a complaint for this last attack and they found some social support. They want measures to be taken to avoid this “unfair” suffering.
