Poetry
É
By Manuel Outeiriño
About this book
The collection Dombate, which the publisher Galaxia has designed for poetry, has now published the book É by Manuel Outeiriño, in which the author uses language in all its sound potential, and poetry gets involved in that game to increase its capacity to reach readers.
With the publication of this poetry collection by Outeiriño, Galaxia continues the trend to bring into the market, along with new publications, significant volumes that are out of print or are difficult to find, in order to disseminate the work of those poets that started working in the 80s and 90s. As a recent addition, this book by Outeiriño surprises us and awakens us with humour and musical language, the emotions of acknowledgement and unexpected meetings.
According to Manuel Outeiriño, in É there is some diction shared by Ungaretti and the Tonetti brothers. On the other hand, poet María do Cebreiro claims that “Manuel Outeiriño is a poet-musician who makes an emulation of a trumpet (using the word with its Latin double meaning both reverential and agonic) and is aware of the fact that his work is to mould the qualities and sound barriers”.
Book fragment
We send life signals
or the plague already embittered us,
and we turn sour knowing nothing,
rough, boastful, boats
dreamt for exile,
kings located, in the unreal, kingdomised
kangaroos of carelessness, quiet,
trawled where the pain, devils who do,
lost nobility?The world hurts
like a thick programme erased at the back
and burdens us and leaves us rootless
punishedLeprechauns of words without fortune,
with pending sanctions
with extinct habits, of the heterodox trailmaybe somebody expected a truce
monochrome doors to let go to the infinite
the longing of a soul to beThe viral vertigo (virtual, virial, viral)
comes back with the shivering of slaps
but maybe old flames flare
of a fleeing fire, captive pain.
