dz ou o libro do esperma
By Samuel Solleiro
About this book
The idea behind o libro de esperma by Samuel Solleiro is to question or even erase the entire concept of masculinity as understood in the context of sex and identity; ultimately, by questioning masculinity, the author calls into question Western modern notions of the 'self' (sexed, canonical), as defined as a sexual being. Even though the plots are independent, the stories in this book are steps towards that idea, until the end in which the sexually mutilated subject strives for a new future with a new subject: a hybrid, cross-dressed, vital, sensual and nostalgic subject. Challenging nature is fun and even sexually exciting. A Carnival to last forever.
Book fragment
Poetry is always written with sperm. If the poet is a male.
This does not mean that sperm is used as ink to write on black sheets as black as one of those nights in which great uncles die or in which ghosts appear in the bathroom mirror. Poetry is written with sperm because it has to be written with sperm in the body. After emptying oneself one can go for a pee or eat an apple. In the worst films they smoke a cigarette. But it is not a matter of catching inspiration in those peaceful moments: it is no longer there. Or it is there but it is asleep. Which is the same thing after all. Apart from writing poetry with sperm it is advisable to write it without eating, that is, sitting and writing in while fasting. Not just so that the soul does not weight and can therefore fly and come out of your fingertips: it is crucial so that the smell and taste of what we eat are not mixed with the poem and we have verses that smell of broccoli or pear compote or that have the shape of a cabanossi sausage. The result has to be decent, valid, beautiful. And this rule can be applied to poets of both sexes: male poets, female poets. So it is.
