Poetry
Catavento de neutrós domesticados
By Manuel María, Xohán Clodio (ilustrador)
About this book
“This is an attempt to present in a poetic way, with surreal elements, the consumerist society we live in”. This is the summary by the author, Manuel María, of this book. The poet wrote this book in 1978, and it was first published by the publisher Alvarellos in February of the following year. O Cataventos de nutrós domesticados is a surprinsing, innovative and foretelling book. It is one of the historic titles of the first catalogue of this publishing house that, three decades after the first issue, had to be recovered. The work releases high doses of nonconformism, irony, restlessness and chaos. It inhabits the space between the social and the intimate. In this volume we have real treasures in terms of lexicon and a high mastery of the language. This edition maintains the original cover of 1979 with the illustrations by Xohán Clodio and is completed with a wide study by professor and writer Camilo Gómez Torres, who is a real expert in Manuel María's work, whom he named as a “total author”.

- CRY FOR THE FREEDOM OF MAN
Man, so big and small,
is the essential key to the universe:
it is a relevant and replaceable part
thanks to the hindrances of Technology
and the unastronomic advances of Medicine,
which I never grow tired of praising,
of telling how fervent my enthusiasm is,
of showing my incandescent passion
that no brain could contain
in its capacity of a well in love.Man is a machine to produce rubbish
that operates regularly,
a little device somehow strange and perfect
to which at some point,
in case of need or urgency
some used spare parts may be attached:
eyes, kidneys, heart,
leaving aside future hibernation.
