About this book

Archaeological sites, with some exceptions, are still largely ignored by cultural tourism, partly because of an avoidance the unknown and party because of a perception close to esotericism regarding relics. There is a need to break away from this trend, without assuming – or desiring, due to the risks it entails -- that visiting archaeological sites is going to become an event for mass tourism.

This guide is not for professionals or archaeology fans but for travellers and excursionists who feel the need to have an introduction to an alternative travel experience and to know new things. The standard traveller or visitor to an archaeological site can be somebody who enjoys nature, the silence of mountains, who wants to avoid mass tourism and who is interested in the past and in a model of cultural tourism that is separate from the mainstream.
