Children
Aquiles o puntiño
By Guia Risari, Marc Taeger
About this book
One of the topics that arouses the curiosity of young readers is the origin of things. The usual “why” that all children are so keen to repeat is a travel companion from childhood into adulthood. Aquiles plays the role of a restless character, and therefore, he changes all the time: his eyes grow, his mouth, his nose, his ears, his arms and legs. They all grow so that they can get beyond, so that they can experience new things. He grows as a living being, eager to know all the things that surround him.
It does not matter that much what kind of being Aquiles is. The flexible proposal created by the talented Marc Taeger does not clarify what kind of species he belongs to. But the text by Guia Risari and the images make clear from the beginning that Aquiles has a great personality, with much initiative and sensitivity. He watches what surrounds him, explores his surroundings, enjoys the little things in life, experiences feelings such as happiness and becomes richer every day with emotions and feelings. These are some of the things that Aquiles encourages us to share and that make it so worthwhile meeting him. Using collage, Taeger works with different kinds of paper that he first paints and then cuts in a composition.
Book fragment
At the beginning, in the middle of a blank page without drawings or marks, there was a small dot. It was clear, almost transparent. The sun went through it like a mirror of water. Little by little the dot got some colour.
