The same thing can be said about our literature, our books, who are fond of journeys. They travel searching for readers beyond our borders. With their quality, innovative ideas and their singular and universal representation of the world they are capable of disrupting boundaries.
The Directorate General for Creativity and Cultural Dissemination of the Galician Ministry for Culture and Sports and the Galician Publishers Association want to facilitate this journey. We want to accompany them in this process of getting visas, of trains and planes, of strolls. Books are a milestone of our culture, they are a strategic sector for our identity and our future, and they share with us that will to move ahead that defines our literature too. The translation of Galician works into other languages is an opportunity to show our literature to the world and to inscribe the names of our authors in the selected circle of “universal literature”.
The books travelling through this website at present are the first batch of a collection that will be increased throughout time, with many more books and authors until there is a wide corpus of our literary production. This first set is a proposal presented by Galician publishers themselves, who selected the books to be shared with the world out of their most recent publications. This website is open to books, to build bridges with our most precious passport: reading.
