The stories in “Dedre” , Ramón Caride’s latest book do not need much complex explanation: the first one, entitled “Practical reason” is a police story; the rewriting of the feats of “Pepe Carrera in two times” presents a character in his own right, a witness to a time of rejection, a time that is the basis for our own times and our misery. In “Snuff-movie” and “Donald Fuck” there is a constant reference to mass culture or an absence of it, and to the cinema, with clear homage to Milo Manara, Rubem Fonseca, Ridley Scott and other reference points for his generation. In this first part there is an emphasis on realism, on violence and darkness; in the second part, entitled “Of impure reason”, some recent short stories by Ramón Caride delve into humour and self-criticism to convey, through amazing literary pyrotechnics, the ironic and corrosive point of view of the author of our literary system, in such works as "Writing Workshop" and Put the Blame on Max Weber."
